Under the pier

Just a quick one taken as part of my walk with the iPhone apps used were pro camera and filter storm
Post processing on the phone consisted of some contrast adjustments followed by a vignette and tone shaping

Out for a walk

So starting off my iPhone photography section of my blog I have decided to run with the whole best camera is the one you have with you concept.
The whole idea is to use my iPhone to create images of things around me.
Now here is the restriction I will be imposing on myself is that the image will not leave the iPhone for external editing but will be edited in phone and posted to the blog directly.

So here is the first image to be included I took it whilst walking on the beach
Apps used were pro camera and filter storm where I increased the contrast and dropped the brightness.
Let me know what you think or ask any questions jay Clapp photography

Review of 8x optical zoom kit for iPod 4s

Recently as you know I’ve been playing around with the whole best camera is the one you have with you principle.
Plus upgrading to the 4s also made a huge difference
So on a quest for a tripod adapter for when I’m using the hd video recording I came across the 8x kit this includes a case a universal tripod mount a mini tripod and an 8x lens that screws onto the case.
All that for £14!

The stand and tripod works as expected so outlay was justified alone.
The supplied case is of plastic variety and whilst strong enough to support the lens was a little loose to be used as a normal case but apart from that it has a nice feel to it
Now for the lens
The lens is of solid enough build for a plastic construction the lenses are plastic so if you are into the whole toy camera thing then this is ideal for you as there are artefacts on the screen associated with cheap plastic lenses but apart from that the image is clear and bright. But let’s face it it’s never going to be a replacement dslr lens.
Zoom wise here is a before and after just using the standard camera app on the 4s

Now here is the fun part increasing the focal length will also give you shallow depth of field as this shows

All in all I think it’s a star buy and you should absolutely try it out

Water

this shot was taken while i was walking through a park with a water fountain

there was no clouds in the sky which created a great backdrop for the water

i made the shot at 1/2000thsec shutter speed iso 200 at F11 on my 28-70mm F2.8 sigma lens

post processing i incresed the contrast in lightroom, bumped up the blacks shifted the temp to more blue and finally added a vignette

Basic Instinct

recently for a customer shoot it was discovered that she really liked the film basic instinct and requested a shoot with that film in mind

the shot was achieved by cross lighting her in the front with an umbrella modifyer and a bare flash behind

Enjoy

i welcome any comments and questions

Pinhole photography

I always like to experiment with my photography and when i saw a pinhole attachment for my camera i had to have it.

it arrived and its made from cheep plastic and i have a feeling its not the correct size but the quirkyness of the photos it creates

ive worked out the Fstop to be around F200 and im looking forwards to playing with it more 🙂

restricted photography

tonight i decided to go out and make only one picture as a restriction plus that one picture would have to be taken with use of one lens which was my 24mm rokkor lens which is older than i am. so no autofocus and apeture is manually selected.

after walking around with few subjects to follow i settled on a sunset picture.

notice the leading line traveling out to a spot on the horizon which is a person
